Cinco De Mayo, is the excuse to eat far too many chips and salsa and guac, and pig out on any Mexican Food you want, right? Well most people think of Mexican as being super high in calories, and let’s face it, GREASE. I got you covered, though! You can easily make great authentic AND un-traditional Mexican dishes that are better for you than eating out (and of course less $$). So, this Cinco, stay in and prepare a slightly healthier fare and have a Mexican Fiesta at home, with some of my easy (and less greasier) favs!
Cinco De Mayo always reminds me of Margaritas in my 20’s. Those days, where you think your invincible and just livin the dream. I can tell you for a good solid 5 years or so, my best friend and I would go to the same place every year for Cinco De Mayo (and St. Patrick’s Day). We would carb load it, with chips, salsa, nachos, tacos, etc etc etc! We would take in way too many calories in drinks, as, for some reason, hangovers really didn’t happen. Fast forward to my 30’s where drinking is done in total moderation, to avoid at all cost, the dredded hangover. You tend to grow out of that phase rather quickly. Priorities change, life changes, and you change.

For a healthy non cocktail idea for Cinco De Mayo, is the ever so refreshing taste of Hibsicus or Jamaica Tea over ice! Freshly brew your Hibicus Tea bags and add a tiny bit of agave, and serve over ice with some fresh ginger! So beautifully delicious! Yum!
